2009 Cobra Jet Mustang on eBay

Well that didn?t take long. 2009 Cobra Jet Mustang number 26 is up for sale on eBay for a starting bid of $100,000. The car is being sold by an Ohio exotic car dealer and we?re keenly interested to see where this auction ends up. Hopefully it goes to someone who will actually race it instead of putting it in a hermetically sealed bubble somewhere. These cars are runners, as John Calvert proved when he won Stock Eliminator at the 2009 NHRA Winternationals. To our knowledge this is the first o

2010 Ford Shelby GT500 Gets 22 MPG Hwy, Nobody Cares [Shelby GT500]

Ford has unleashed a monstrous press release touting an utterly unimportant aspect of the 2010 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 , an increase in fuel economy of 2 MPG. If you're a prospective buyer, you don't care. If you built a rip-snorting, ball-busting, brain-maiming muscle car, don't apologize for its consumption. Celebrate it. Be proud a car which brings so much joy gets atrocious fuel economy, it reminds everyone else how sad their choice of an economy car is. Shoveling a long-winded press re

First Ford Fiestas Set Ashore

Built in Europe for the American market, the first wave of Ford Fiestas have now arrived in the states. The "test fleet" is geared toward raising awareness of the hot-selling Fiesta to young American drivers, those people born between 1979 and 1985 in particular. Like invading troops, 140 Ford Fiestas have come ashore at ports in Baltimore and Oxnard, California signaling the first salvo in a war that the Ford Motor Company hopes to win beginning next year when the cars are made available to

Intermeccanica Mustang station wagon spotted in the New Jersey suburbs

And where else would a Mustang station wagon (had it actually reached production) have been more appropriate than in the ?burbs? Reader John Murphy of Oakland, Maine, recently sent us some photos of a Mustang station wagon he spotted back in 1966 in New Jersey, and it turns out it was no backyard job. I was on a road call in River Edge, NJ, and saw the green wagon parked. On returning to the shop I said, ?Hey, you wouldn?t believe what I just saw.? We jumped in Lester?s Barracuda - the white

Battle of the 2010 Camaro, Mustang, and Challenger: Which is the Most Green?

Photo via: Dodge Challenger1We talk a lot about electric cars and hybrids here on Treehugger and Planet Green, but there are those of us who still have a fix for that old American Muscle Car. There is nothing like the raw scream of a V-8 engine coming out onto the highway, or the adrenaline rush of snapping a speedo from 0 to 60 in under 5 seconds. We've still got several years until zero emissions sports cars such as the Tesla Roadster become affordable enough for the average consumer, so until
